Librewolf Browser is not opening external links properly

I have installed librewolf from flatpak with pamac package manager.
Actually it never properly worked to open an external link to librwolf neither to insert & start a link directly. I always thought it were a security feature.

I have reinstalled it via my console to make sure it may not a pamac problem.
flatpak uninstall --delete-data io.gitlab.librewolf-community flatpak install flathub io.gitlab.librewolf-community

After by systematic testing I figured out a very strange behaviour. If I open librewolf manually first than click on a link in Thunderbird the link is opened.
If I have closed librewolf and than click on a link in TB with librewolf as a default browser it does not work.

FlatPaks (and Snaps) are containerized applications. They don’t integrate well with the rest of the system.

If you want an integrated version of librewolf, get the one from the AUR.

Is there no love for Mullvad around here?

I don’t know. I myself use chromium. But the OP wants librewolf, so… :man_shrugging:

I have tried to install the AUR version with pamac. After 4 hours the installation is not finished, yet.

Actually I like Mullvad. But I need the synchronisation function of my bookmarks and passwords. This works with librewolf but seems not to work with Mullvad.
Also probably the link problem stays the same so I have to install the AUR version instead of the flatpak one!?

Or is there any workaround to enable opening an external with a flatpak browser which is not opened, yet?

Try installing the AUR (en) - librewolf-bin package instead:

pamac build librewolf-bin

It is an already compiled binary maintained by the same person who provides the librewolf AUR package. I just installed it on my mini-PC - it took less than a minute to finish the build and installation on my Testing branch system. The browser opened successfully.

Yes. The installation worked now.

I moved my .librewolf profile from
~/.var/app/io.gitlab.librewolf-community/.librewolf/
to
~/.librewolf

Finally, I went to the application menu, under the browser category, and right-clicked on the AUR librewolf shortcut and selected “Manage profiles”. After selecting the correct profile, it now also works with the old settings from the flatpak installation. By the way I am using KDE Plasma.
