Laptop won't shut down

I very recently installed a new SSD on my laptop to add storage. I cloned the old SSD onto the new one (clonezilla with a live USB), and formatted everything on the old one. Everything on my system works fine, but my computer won’t shut down from the GUI.

sudo shutdown now

works fine, however when shutting down from the GUI I continue to see the mouse and a black screen, and it never (5+ minutes) shuts down. In that state I am able to switch to TTY and enter commands.

I found this post and tried adding the options, but the issue persists. IDK if the output from update grub is helpful.

$ sudo update-grub

Could you please help me figure this out? Thanks!

This was addressed on the 2024.10.01 Stable Update thread.

You must disable the restoring of the session on login and set it to start with an empty session. Afterwards you can try saving the session again.

It’s a bug in Plasma 6.1.5, and it is known about.

Solved the issue I guess but now it hangs saying “Dependency failed Remote File System”. Probably something unrelated right?

Probably. Well, I’d venture to say definitely. The error sounds like there is some kind of network problem.
