Laptop internal screen is still not recognized with nvidia 535

Laptop internal screen is still not recognized on kernel 6.12 with nvidia 535.

I am having to stay on 535 because 550 is unusable on laptops with 40x0 series graphics due to suspend bugs leading to system freezes.

There is no fault of Manjaro guys in any of this but Nvidia has been absolutely horrible with their drivers this entire year. The suspend bug has been introduced in the first version of 550 and still hasn’t been fixed 8 months later.

Help testing Nvidia drivers with Kernel 6.12

This is a bit of a longer story, I’ll try my best to keep it short: Whenever the system goes to sleep/hibernation and wakes up, NVIDIA hooks those events using /usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/nvidia and directs them to their script /usr/bin/nvidia-sleep.sh. When entering sleep/hibernation, the script is called with argument suspend. It will then switch to a certain virtual terminal and issue a suspend request to the driver. Up until now with Kernel 6.12, Working but Performance Issues with Games (Steam/Proton) compared to Kernel 6.11 with same 550 Driver, i have had no problems with Nvidia for years now but then again I’m on a Desktop so would not need/use Suspend/Sleep.

535 works pretty much perfectly on my system, and it came out in the end of 2023. Every update from there has been downhill, so yes this year.

Them actively developing wayland and whatnot means literally nothing in my book if they keep degrading what is considered to be well accepted and common desktop solution (X11 drivers) to unusable state.

My previous machine used GTX 1650 on 470 driver, and while that driver on that GPU does miss some pretty crucial features (like proper implementation of render offload and actually working hybrid graphics mode), there were no updates which would just randomly freeze the system during normal usage and not get fixed in 8 months.

Most people here seem to be on desktop so are unaffected, but laptop users with RTX graphics and hybrid setup are affected. For me, the system would work normally with the 550 driver for a couple of suspend cycles, but then random processes would start crashing with memory allocation errors until the cascade failure causes the entire system to freeze. 550 driver should have never been released in this state.
