Hello everyone!
I know, I know the old issue with nvidia. My laptop had been working perfectly until yesterday I clicked auto install proprietary drivers in Settings. Then issue arose (battery draining much faster before, and getting too hot in sleep). I removed the drivers and set the working gpu with optimus-manager. The issues have not gone

Kernel 6.2 is marked EOL and will no longer receive updates. Have you tried with 5.15 or 6.1 which are both LTS kernels? Kernel 6.3 would be a good alternative if you seek a non LTS kernel.
I have not tried with other kernel versions. One thing which is interesting is the fact that the laptop was working perfectly before that. Can we rollback to that situation ?
Hello,
Devalyus:
HP Laptop 16-d1xxx
This model is supposed to have an RTX 3050Ti, correct?
Well, the inxi output you provided shows no trace of it.

That means it might be turned off from BIOS, or is something about that model that make it act funky, as others reported to have issues on the HP community support, like this one:
I have HP Victus 16-d1xxx laptop. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti. When I use it daily or play games, it doesn't matter, the GPU turns itself off. This event happens randomly. Sometimes I play games for 5 hours and there is no...
or this one
And they are using Windows that is supposed to be supported better than Linux …
Devalyus:
6.2.16-2-MANJARO
As pointed out already, that kernel is EOL.
before that - what exactly?
You should fully update your system.
sudo pacman-mirrors -f5 && sudo pacman -Syyu
then run
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux61
or
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux63
Actually I have specified in the issue above. Yesterday I clicked Auto install proprietary drivers in Settings(will never do again). After installing proprietary drivers laptop gets really hot in sleep mode and battery is draining much faster. Thanks I will try and get back
As for not showing discrete gpu, I disabled it in the config. Here it is new one:

Right, so is using no driver, maybe because you are still using the EOL kernel so the nvidia modules for it are bonkers now, reason why you need to use a supported kernel.
It stuck in the booting after installing 6.1 @anon89812132
Sh:cant access tty; job control turned off
I tried to delete kernel 6.1 from emergency shell but it kept saying that the command not found. How can I remove it?
So that at least for now I can use my latop i had very serious task
That is just a notification by the shell that job control doesn’t work, that means that you can’t stop a program with Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Z
Did you actually updated the system before installing the new kernel? All the hooks and the mkinitcpio
got generated, or you prematurely rebooted the system?
My suggestion is to manually boot by removing quick
from kernel boot parameter and use nomodeset
and also try linux63
.
I think you are aiming for the most convoluted way to sort things out. To make sure things are ok, even if you have to boot in runlevel 3, and install the kernel from TTY, you can also manually reinstall the nvidia driver with:
sudo mhwd -i pci video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime
Error: resume: hibernation device ‘/dev/mapper/luks-558055a3-long string here’ not found
Error: device ‘/dev/mapper/luks-long id here’ not found. Skipping fsck.
mount: /new_root: no filesystem type specified
You are now being dropped to an emergency shell.
Sh: can’t access tty:job control turned off
Sorry I am writing error message by hand
Yess fully updated the system before installing new kernel
Great, you also encrypted your system … Not my cup of tea, so maybe somebody else will pass around to give you some assistance.
Meanwhile here some hints related to that:
Solved.
In etc/default/grub the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=… must contain the identifier as a device, not as a UUID. Even if that device has that UUID.
With the data from my OP:
I replaced
resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/33333333-3333-3333-3333-333333333333
with
resume=/dev/mapper/crypt_sda2 and it works.
Probably (?) because the UUID of /dev/mapper/crypt_sda2 (from blkid) points to all btrfs subvolumes (in fstab), and even if /swap would be correctly identified, the physic…
You will need a Live Media Manjaro install and follow this to recover your system.
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
So you couldn’t wait until the update process had completed and you went for the reset/power button, didn’t you? And now you’re getting the message that you don’t have a kernel installed. Well, you’re not the only one — we’re seeing it happen all the time.
So, here’s how to fix it, you impatient n00b.
If you don’t happen to have a recent Manjaro installer USB/DVD/CD handy, direct your browser to this wonderful page , download t…

I just did a fresh Virtualbox VM with 22.0.5 as base and updated to today’s stable update of 2023-04-11. The install used the automatic install mode with LUKS encryption using a normal password.
Boot process:
grub loads and ask for the password
after entering that it takes a short while
the cryptomount -u error happens: [PATCH v5 5/9] cryptodisk: Improve cryptomount -u error message
waiting or pressing any key continues the boot process
Now I’ve to see what changed and how to get that messa…
