Laptop fan always on

Hello guys,

I have a lenovo ideapad s340-api on which I installed manjaro xfce. I tested everything in windows and everything seemed to work perfectly.
Now that I am on manjaro, my laptop fans start spinning after a while and wont stop ever, even though my
temperatures are normal (35C idle/while browsing/discord)
Its pretty annoying to hear the fan all the time, even when not under load. Even at completely idle the fans spin all the time.
lm sensors does NOT show an RPM value for my cpu fan. Even after using sensors-detect it wont show up.
I also tried setting the power settings in the bios from “lenovo intelligent” or whatever to “quiet”. Does not seem to help in linux.
Anyone experiencing the same problem? I mean the laptop is brand new and I dont think it is a thermal issue…

Mine would do the same, but I found a Dell-specific utility to manage fan speeds.

Please post your system specs as outlined here:

uhmm, I have the version with the ryzen 5 3500U cpu and no dedicated graphics card. I have noticed that when on battery, my laptop noise lessens and sometimes the fans completely stop. But now that my power plug is inserted, It starts spinning at a pretty fast speed (I can hear it loud and clearly) and the fans wont stop ever or ever decide to spin slower. I dont get it, it works flawlessly on windows tho. I wish I could somehow set a fancurve…

…that you still havent posted a basic output of system information.
You wont get very much help until you do that.

Sorry, I have just now had the time to look at this problem again, here is my system information and dmesg errors:

there are alot of error messages, probably not all have to do with the fans. The wifi on this laptop is also not really the best thing in the world. But I figured I can buy a different wifi card and go on with my day if this is unfixable. But I cannot really change the fancontrol things idk. Hope you can help

What is this Dell Specific utility?

Any merit in trying a newer kernel?
