Keyboard Volume Scroll Wheel Settings

I am having trouble getting the volume scroll on my keyboard to exhibit the behavior I would like. My keyboard is a Redragon Horus K619. It works as one would expect in Windows with a generic Microsoft driver, a smooth but fast and responsive volume scroll from 0% to 100%.

In KDE, it seems like the volume scroll wheel is treated like a volume key, so with the default key repeat delay of 600 ms and rate of 25 repeats/s, the volume scroll behavior is erratic. Sometimes it does not start scrolling, scroll speed changes, and it scrolls up faster than down.

I changed the delay to 300 ms and the rate to 50 repeats/s as a middle ground to also work with typing, but I don’t like this behavior for the rest of the keyboard. I tried some other models listed as multimedia and did not have any success. Is there a more suitable model than the Generic 104-key PC model? Or is there a way to change the delay and rate for specific keys instead of across the entire keyboard?

With my Ajazz - with a knob - rotating it clockwise is the same as pressing Volume+, anticlockwise Volume-; then if I hold Ctrl it adjusts application volume, and if I hold CtrlAlt it skips tracks; holding down Alt makes it do brightness.

This with no ‘driver’ to speak of… but not actually ‘smooth’ - it is a notched wheel, each increment equal to a single key-press.

The Redragon is causing a signal translation issue - Linux recieves the scroll as key presses… so your attempt to adjust key repeat settings would be a good effort.

I guess I’m lucky, I did see it when I was out buying my Ajazz last year.
