Kde-plasma desktop-grid (meta-F8) erratically stops working

hi,
on my notebook (hybrid intel/nvidia, kde-plasma 5.22.4) the desktop-grid (meta-F8) shortcut erratically stops working. same with meta+F9 and meta+F10.
probaly after some suspend / resume cycles. rebooting helps but is pretty anoying.
so is there any process/service i could check and restart ? compositor ? desktop-effects ? kwin ?

fixed it by switching compositor on/off with alt+shift+F12 .
no idea why its sometimes off
