KDE - Detect proxy configuration automatically / Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) protocol

Hi there all,

I have been testing the Manjaro KDE “Detect proxy configuration automatically” and according to my tests, it will only work if there is a WPAD hostname DNS entry.

I thought that sending “option 252” with the wpad.dat file URL through DHCP would have worked as well but as said above without the DNS entry it’s never “detected/retreived”.

tcpdump always confirm this, DNS request to wpad. followed by http://fqdn/wpad.dat download, that’s it.

If possible I’d prefer to use DHCP solely, is the DHCP option 252 not supported?

Have you checked the NetworkManager - ArchWiki ?

Manjaro uses NetworkManager and the GUI option to detect proxy is configuring NetworkManager.
