Why Wayland isn’t yet default at October 2024? Shouldn’t be more than stable?

You select your environment in the lower left corner of the login screen - this is remembered on next login - no choice needed.

While Wayland works flawlessly with most Intel and AMD GPUs, Nvidia still has too many bugs with KDE Wayland. It is safer to leave X11 as the default so Nvidia users don’t have a broken desktop. As said above, you can select KDE Wayland, and it will be remembered for future logins.

That is not corrrect, you need to adjust more:

Ohh yeah, i remember i had this problem also after my change from x11 to Wayland on my AMD Laptop. It reverted after a reboot again, but this way you can make it permanent: System Settings>Colors & Themes>Login Screen (SDDM)>(The button at the top)Behavior>select Automatically Log in “USER” with session “Plasma X11” or “Plasma Wayland”.

That is not corrrect, you need to adjust more:

It is for anyone not using automatic login.
Of course if you set ‘automatically login as X’ .. then you would need to change that option.
Any ‘select at login’ is entirely moot, let alone which backend, as you are automatically logging in .. so no such selection is made.

Yeah this makes sense… i wasn’t thinking about the people who manually log in.

But my point stays for people who prefer auto login.
