I did run into one of the Frameworks files, kcoreaddons, not installing. I will be looking into that.
Other than that, the system seems to run much snappier.

kcorecoreaddons
was not part of this update. Did you skip the previous update (2024-12-23)? My system shows kcoreaddons
(v6.9.0-3) as Install Date : Mon 23 Dec 2024 20:34:31
Also, could you please confirm which branch you are on? Your user profile says “Stable”, but this thread was moved from the “[Testing Update] 2025-01-04” topic. Stable branch’s last update was 2024-12-16.
I had skipped the previous update, yes.
Could you please also update your Forum Profile Preferences to reflect that you are now on Testing branch?
You can check which branch you are currently on by running the following command:
pacman-mirrors --get-branch
I switched to testing this morning.
Could you please retry updating after refreshing your mirror list:
sudo pacman-mirrors --continent && sudo pacman -Syu
Post the output including any errors/warnings/conflicts here.
Edit: changed pacman-mirrors command from fasttrack to the user’s continent.
Note:
The --fasttrack
command, when combined with a positive integer, will produce a list with that number of random working mirrors and rank them by speed.
The only way for --fasttrack
or -f
to produce the fastest mirrors is to use no numeral or 0
.
( sudo pacman-mirrors -f
)
If we do not wish to ask people to rank all mirrors globally,
And because it has the effect of resetting any existing and possibly problematic mirror pool,
We could suggest --continent
or --geoip
.
( sudo pacman-mirrors --continent
)
Thanks for that explanation. I originally copied the command from the Switching Branches - Manjaro wiki page. I’ve now updated my notes application that I use to store copy & paste replies for this forum to show “continent” rather than “fasttrack”.
I should add that, on my system, I use the global mirrors:
sudo pacman-mirrors --country Global
The fasttrack option is definately what you want. I think my problem updating kcoreaddons is some sort of conflict with xtra cmake modules. With a snow storm pending I may not be online much. Cheers.
Again, will you please:
I fail to see how that can be the case. Both are installed on my testing branch system without any issues:

Not really. At least not with a number. Did you read anything written?
going to be much more clear to everyone else if you follow the directions to share the output.
If you do come online again, before you post any other comments about fast-tracking or snowstorms, please try to focus on replying to direct assistance:
It does appear that you failed to paste results of your update attempt:
sudo pacman-mirrors --continent && sudo pacman -Syu
We think your problem updating kcoreaddons is caused by conflicts which YOU created by not updating properly.
The only way forward here is if you will follow, step by step, the instructions offered by people who do not have the same issues which you created.
If you have conflicts, you created them yourself by not properly updating and by jumping between branches without properly updating.
You are simply encouraging people to waste their time trying to help, whilst you ignore them.
This thread should now be paused until you paste the output from the above command.
sudo pacman-mirrors --continent && sudo pacman -Syu

Further investigation on this I saw an error that the kcoreaddons file already exists. So, that is hopeful. Will try again later. Meanwhile, trying to keep all devices and power packs charged for this level 3 weather emergency. Later, everyone!
This shows no error.
(aside from the long dead community repo)
Where?
It was an error generated by pacman on install.
/usr/lib/libKF6CoreAddons.so.6.9.0
Well, that marks the second time you’ve marked one of your own posts as the Solution; neither of which was the solution to anything.
This topic is closed. It’s clearly going nowhere.
