I dont expect anyone to read all this, to be clear. 2nd and 3rd to last sections deal with the OG issue I started thread on.
I think ive been quite proper since the moment I realized what the entire situation was here (massive update, probably most substantial in many years) and changed my tune and entered techie mode to start diagnosing things and figuring it out and/or adding information to the thread - in order to - create more ease in others maybe having something to add.
However, as I stated, my issue is so minor its like the train flew off the roller coaster and I was freaking out and in the end only had a minor scratch that I forgot about by the end of the day.
I appreciate the information (and assistance getting to TL2) I have been offered. I truly do, especially considering my attitude in the beginning, before realizing what was happening.
I have not had to do much troubleshooting or monkeying around for more than a couple years. >>>Manjaro has worked that well for me<<< The few minor things that arose over the past few years were very extremely minor but still annoying so I looked for solutions for a few days and than just implemented “re-routes” to avoid the issues.
Ben, it looks like part of a message is gone. I was reading one thing in the email notification but its not here. I think this thread has been very productive, for me.
Im NOT here to just have answers given. I initially knew there would be work involved in running a Linux distro. Ive already mentioned how well Manjaro has worked for me. Im not tech illiterate. Im not a super user either. Manjaro has worked so well, it has never made sense to me to spend tons of time in the forums. I do not have much to offer towards other peoples problems due to my background so again, no reason to be in the forums everyday/week.
It would be very cool if I get kalarm working again but I do not expect you, nor anyone that has already engaged, or any others, to spend all your time trying to get my alarm program running lol … there are many others with much more serious issues that may even be affecting their income producing job.
But its a forum so my thread only takes up as much room as it already has and maybe those who have already engaged or others that may still see this thread, will find enjoyment in providing info or tips or questions to get this working.
I already thought about migrating everything to that new user I created. I feel it may be a better option than tooling around with my current user or a full re-install. Ill work thru the actual troubleshooting steps offered by ben and soundofthunder today before deciding whether to initiate the slow migration to the new user I created.
Again, thanks for all the words and thoughts shared. Both those relevant to the tech issue and those relevant to me personally.
Lastly, the new user thing, because it still bothers me. Why not just bar new users from being able to post or react or engage in any way, other than viewing, the posts that are currently locked until all those account metrics are met? It would allow the solutions offered to be attempted even if the user is new. Now, a new user has to go and do a bunch of engagement to see a post that very well may be the solution they need. They do not need the ability to engage; only view and copy/paste. … it just seems very odd to do it the way its done. But maybe this forum doesn’t have the technical capabilities to do this?
