Issues with TP-Link T3U Plus since update

Since the last larger update, including kernel bump to 6.12, my issues with the WiFi adapted have increased.
(Note that despite that, I’ve been trying several old kernel versions and the problem remains the same)

Up until now the device worked well, except for turning off under heavy load every now and then, but reconnecting the device would fix it.
Since said update, the device won’t work or is very slow.

Most common message in dmesg is:
rtw_8822bu 2-4:1.0: failed to get tx report from firmware

Sometimes also:
rtw_8822bu 2-4:1.0: firmware failed to leave lps state

Every now and then when disconnecting, this:
[ 1728.532401] rtw_8822bu 1-4:1.0: write register 0xc4 failed with -71
[ 1728.532506] rtw_8822bu 1-4:1.0: rtw_usb_reg_sec: reg 0x4e0, usb write 1 fail, status: -71

For additional information, when the device was still satisfyingly functional, I had the kernel parameter usbcore.autosuspend=-1 set.
I’ve been experimenting with usbcore.autosuspend=0 and pcie_aspm=off to sucess of varying degrees, the firmware issue seems to pop up randomly but in most cases when booting up the machine.

What is it/was it supposed to be doing?
As well as this?

It somehow suggests to me that the issue might be power savings related - usb power saving … turn it off so that the card does not try to enter this mode.
