I was able to solve the issue on my own. I just appended /sbin/prime-offload to the end of /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup and /sbin/prime-switch to the end of /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xstop and then running optimus-manager --switch hybrid
Many other people on the fourm appear to be having the same or a similar issue so i hope this solution will be of some use.
