Is Thunar capable of displaying thumbnails or pre-screening of text-files ?
Because I can’t get it to work …
I’ve tried almost everything, but no luck.
I works fine with pdf, jpg, odt …
No luck with html files either …
Thunar uses Tumbler by default. Just create a text thumbnailer plugin for it.
An example can be found here xfce:tumbler:available_plugins [Xfce Docs]
It is just an example, adapt the script and desktop-file to your needs and preference for thumbnails.
There is also a AUR package that contains some extra thumbnailers. It includes a text thumbnailer.

Sorry to ask, but did you get it to work?
And why isn’t this functional out of the box, text files are the most basic of all data files, so it should work immediately you start Thunar?
Yes, but just for a test, I personally find thumbnails for text files useless. I only use thumbnails for pictures and nothing else.
If you believe this should a default function, create a feature-request with the tumbler developers.
