Is the Kernel 5.15.2-2 is the one the will become LTS?

with a different release number obviously,
(not the RT or RC),or will it be a another one?
i’m asking because i want to install it but don’t want to change again to the LTS.

5.15 is the next LTS

5.15 is indeed scheduled to become the next LTS kernel, but it will not be given that moniker yet while 5.16 hasn’t been declared stable yet.

thank you
if i install it,on the next boot it is the one that will be enabled right?it’s always the higher version that has priority i think i read.
(i don’t want grub to show)

Yes, so long as you don’t install any higher kernel versions, it will be the default kernel at boot.

Probably.

As a workaround the OP could:

  • edit grub so it always boots to the last used choice (wasn’t that set as default when installing manjaro?)
  • reboot, pick lower kernel from grub menu
  • edit grub again to make it hidden.

Any reboot should then boot straight into lower kernel.

It is already LTS according to the release page.

EOL is 2023

Yes, but that is not what I construed the OP’s intent to be.

From where I’m sitting, it appeared as if the OP would prefer that the system always boots into the 5.15 LTS kernel while there are still other kernels installed. And therefore, simply installing 5.15 and not installing any higher-version kernels will indeed do as the OP wishes.

No rebuild needed it’s supports 5.15 up to 5.16 rc 1 < It run fine on 5.15

https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/log/?h=vmware-workstation

And the dkms will be triggered when you install this or newer ones. So if no errors occurs.

that’s good to know in case i wanted to go back to 5.10 :+1:

Yes, intended my reply for the OP although it was meant as an add on, or an alternative, to your reply. Edited my post to address ‘OP’ directly, sorry for the confusion.

Hi,
The kernel 5.15 doesn’t show as a LTS kernel in my Manjaro Setting Manager

I wonder if this is normal or anything went wrong in my computer?

nothing is wrong :hugs:

5.15 is currently marked as stable, but will be marked as LTS once 5.16 is stable.
