Is it necessary to select the swap flag while creating the swap partition?

I have been going through tutorials on dual booting windows and manjaro and in some of them when they create a swap they tick the swap flag. Is that necessary and why is it used because I saw a flag for root also but never seen someone actually selecting it while installing ?

It is not necessary for root & swap but u might add the flag if u want…necessary one is selecting boot flag in /boot/efi

The flags are setting a partition type uuid according to the systemd specification.

Arch and by inheritance Manjaro follow the specifications for systemd based systems.

Ok thank you for clarifying this.
