- Manjaro Linux
- Kernel: 6.18.12-1-MANJARO
- BlueZ: 5.86
- Bluetooth device: Intel 9460/9560 Jefferson Peak
- USB ID: 8087:0aaa
- Firmware: intel/ibt-17-16-1.sfi
Issue Description
Bluetooth randomly stops working during runtime.
Important observations:
- Device remains present in
lsusb - No USB disconnect events in dmesg
- No firmware crash logs
- WiFi (same Intel combo chip) continues working
- Bluetooth service remains running
Reloading btusb restores functionality:
sudo modprobe -r btusb
sudo modprobe btusb
This suggests a driver stall rather than hardware failure.
dmesg (boot firmware load)
Bluetooth: hci0: Found device firmware: intel/ibt-17-16-1.sfi
Bluetooth: hci0: Firmware revision 0.1 build 201 week 12 2024
Troubleshooting Already Done
- Disabled USB autosuspend
- Disabled WiFi powersave
- Disabled iwlwifi power_save
- Tested LTS kernel
- Verified no rfkill block
Issue persists.
No USB resets or timeouts are logged when the failure occurs.
Is this a known regression in kernel 6.18.x affecting btusb?
