Installing Manjaro on a 2009 MacBook Pro with an Error

New to manjaro and trying to install on a new SSD in my 2009 MacBook Pro. I’m receiving this error on the GUI install and not sure where to go from here. I took out the SSD and put it in my Lenovo and installed Ubuntu fine so I know the SSD is good.

“Thank The installer failed to create partition on disk ‘Samsung 55D 870 EVO 500GB’.
Create a new partition (465.46 GiB, ext4) on /dev/sda
job: Create new partition on device /dev/sda
Command: mkfs.ext4-qF/dev/sda2 “

Any ideas?

But apple relies on what resides in the EFI partition, for the firmware stuff they have, since they don’t have a BIOS as other Laptops have … And apparently you tried to approach the install the same way as for another Laptop.
To properly install linux on it, check this MacBook5,2 (early-mid 2009) - ArchWiki

Thank you for the info. I have also installed it on my 2012 MacBook Pro without any modifications, but I realize it is a different generation. I looked into the link and that guide says it’s for Model Mac 5, 2.

I looked into mine and it is a 5,5
