Installed RTL8812au driver doesn't work at all

So I downloaded the rtl8812au drivers as instructed in the old archived tutorial (I cant post links). Unfortunately the driver doesn’t work at all.
This is the info I am required to provide:

My WiFi adapter is TRENDnet TEW809UB/A and the wifi chipset is rtl8812au.
The adapter uses a cable between the PC and the actual adapter and it is not possible to plug the adapter in directly.

Hi @Elperson , welcome to the forum.

Could you please paste the output of the following terminal commands:
rfkill list all
nmcli device show

sudo lspci -v

I checked the hardware in the website on this link:
AC1900 High Power Dual Band Wireless USB Adapter

I could not understand whether you want to see the adapter on Manjaro if you could not connect it to the pc by cable. Maybe, you have to fix this first.

Hope this help, regards

And as I said previously I is connected by cable but I’ve heard rumors from some other servers that if the connection goes through a cable and not direcctly into the antenna (e.g: The antenna doesn’t have a usb sticking out of it) . The kernel will detect it differently. I don’t know how true that is though.

You were already told on your OpenSUSE forum post your adapter uses the RTL8814AU drivers. Have you tried rtl8814au-dkms-git or rtl88xxau-aircrack-dkms-git?

By now I’ve tried both of the drivers and still no wifi connection. By the way I’ve installed the drivers using yay -S [DRIVER]. And then restarted my PC. Still not sure about why it doesn’t work.

Did they actually install properly? Do you have the kernel headers installed?

This was the step I kept missing before I got my 8811-drivers to work.

I think I do. Though I’m not sure.

I found some tutorial on how to get the headers.

You’ll want to use the -Qs flag to see what you have installed.

Any uhhh response? Wifi is still not working.

So how do I fix it?

Hi @Elperson,
I can see that you cannot connect your computer by the ethernet adapter and you are using your smartphone and maybe some other program to post the results.
You have the kernels headers installed and you installed the drivers.
It looks okay.

On the other hand the command rfkill list all is not showing any adapter so can you run the following terminal command:
rfkill unblock all
The nmcli device show output show that you have the device connected to the computer and also has a network ip4 address given by your router at 192.168.122.0/24
Also the ethernet card is listed but is not connected what is correct.

I think you also have installed the dkms package that is needed by the linux51-headers and required by the linux510-virtualbox-host-modules.

Regards
