"Install Desktop Environments" Wiki page outdated

I installed GDM, but when trying:

pacman -S manjaro-gnome-assets manjaro-gdm-theme manjaro-settings-manager
fout:doel niet gevonden: manjaro-gnome-assets
fout:doel niet gevonden: manjaro-gdm-theme

I get errors of packages not found, I did find a topic about it with a solution:
Switch Desktop Environment page outdated, but the solution in post 2 is not displayed, probably because: This user is no longer active.

Does someone know the correct names of the packages?
I want to change the resolution of the desktop, but do not have the settings to do so.

Mod edit:- Topic title corrected for accuracy. Topic moved to the appropriate category. No charge. In future, please ensure to choose the correct category when creating a new thread.

Please familiarise yourself with the differences between providing Feedback and asking for Support. Do not mix them – always maintain separate categories for such topics. :eyes:

This is a very old and long closed thread.

It would be better to ask about what you want to do specifically
and what you perhaps struggle with, again: specifically.

Desktop environments like Gnome do change over time - and so do package names.

The solution was arguably the acknowledgement of the issue with the Wiki at that time (3.5 years ago) and the subsequent correction(s) made that were relevant, again, at that time.

There is otherwise nothing hidden in the “post 2” that you mention.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention – I’m sure our Wiki editors will attend to the issue whenever they are able.

Regards.

I was asking a Gnome related question, therefor I placed it in the Gnome thread.

I did mention someone with the same problem in an old thread.

But me asking:

Does someone know the correct names of the packages?
I want to change the resolution of the desktop, but do not have the settings to do so.

Seemed clear to me

I can’t read post number 2, it looks like this:

I will post a clearer question

The title of a topic must correspond to the subject matter – whatever the subject of the topic is.

Your title was initially virtually identical to the (now edited) title – and that title infers that the topic is about outdated information on a Wiki page – in the content of the first post was also a link to a similar topic about the same Wiki page being outdated.

The thread was therefore moved to the Feedback category.

You can’t read it even after taking a screenshot?
I can – it says:

That’s all there is – there is nothing hidden.

The GNOME related question should have been asked in a separate Support thread, with a title that clearly indicated what the support thread was concerning.

As mentioned (above) the thread was moved to Feedback for the reasons already given.

Yes, clear, but again, always keep separation between topics, as already mentioned):

Clearly structured and presented questions, along with necessary supporting information, is always welcome.

The solution is no displayed because the solution was to edit the wiki page.

And that is why the user responded with

Ok, fixed. Thanks for reporting

I have reviewed the page and modified to match current state of Manjaro Linux.

Would it be worth to include COSMIC as well into the list of DEs in the Wiki?
I mean, it is

  • easy to install - even beside GNOME, works fine and one user is able to select COSMIC or GNOME in GDM for every session, and
  • mentioned in the update announcements regulary

For your convenience - if you will update the WIKI - see this post:

Seems fair to me, but naturally it will need some internal discussion. @wiki

Absolutely - done…

I have installed cosmic alongside plasma - just to see if they collide in any way - and to test the environment as a whole.

It appears very polished, I quite like it, thank you for suggesting the addition to the wiki, it made me test it.
