Hi all,
something went wrong during the last system update… the graphical updater froze and then the kernel was missing for booting. I then booted with a USB stick into a live manjaro and restarted the update. This time everything went smoothly, but now I have new effects that I can’t get rid of.
On the one hand, I have connected two monitors, a 27“ and a portrait 23” - both with displayport. The small one has FullHD, the big one a little more - 2560x1440. The large NEC has a power-saving function that completely switches it off after a while in standby. Useful, saves electricity
Unfortunately, the system then sees the monitor as disconnected – it then fetches the icons on the portrait monitor that is still running. This is not a problem so far – before the update, I turned the big one back on and had to switch workspaces once, then the icons were back in place.
Now they just stay stubbornly on the portrait monitor. I can’t select them all and drag them over to the other screen. I have to move each one individually.
The NEC is set as the main monitor. In addition, I also set a check somewhere that only the main monitor should display icons. Nevertheless, they are on the wrong one
If I delete the file under.config/xfce4/desktop/icons.screen0.yaml, log out and log back in, they are on the right monitor. But if I then turn off the big one, they remain on the small one again. It then simply changes the screens in the file without undoing. It’s enough to make you tear your hair out
I use the kernel in my signature, the latest updates are in it. As a window manager, I still use X11 - somehow I have the feeling that the changes for wayland are the cause, but I’m not sure if I should switch yet. Is my programming and CAD system… is used a lot and has to run.
The next effect - probably doesn’t affect XFCE - but in chromium, almost all fonts are now extremely blurred. It looks like exaggerated anti-aliasing. Firefox doesn’t do that. I thought it was the nvidia driver, so I swapped my graphics card for an AMD, but the fonts are still blurry.
Does anyone have any ideas where I can look or what can be done? Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Chris
