Maybe some education is in order then.
While its true that most/modern intel devices probably dont need that package, and they should prefer modesetting, it really must be seen as ‘generational’ depending on hardware.
Meaning if you have relatively modern intel hardware then what you say is likely true. But for anyone with old enough intel hardware it would simply not be true. Something like a Gen4 integrated graphics processor is not going to be supported by modesetting.
So anyways … you stumbled on the correct and recommended choice, but it cannot possibly be the only choice for all iterations of intel devices.
I will also point out that you had this option available to you in mhwd … the video-modesetting profile.
And that you have a hybrid system, which would be best supported by the proprietary nvidia drivers and PRIME, but you seem to have not opted for those.
But I will also point out that with PRIME the only option is modesetting.
So … if you had installed/configured the recommended driver profile (whether the hybrid PRIME profile, or the modesetting profile individually) you wouldnt have ever needed to manually remove xf86-video-intel.
