I3 Community Image - How to change settings?

I’ve set up my laptop with the i3 Community Image found at Manjaro Downloads

I would like to change the touchpad so that it scrolls in the opposite direction to the default.

I found a file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-touchpad.conf but I’m not sure if I should edit that or something else.

With the GNOME image, I used a Settings GUI to do such things, but I’m a bit lost now.

There are other things I’d like to do as well, like experiment with screen resolutions. I tried arandr but it doesn’t let me choose the refresh rate.

My question is how to change settings in general, not just these two specifics. I had a look at the i3 User Guide and couldn’t find anything obvious there.

Yes, that is the way with xorg.

Use xrandr on the command line.

Well, there is no GUI on I3 since it is not there to please causal users. :man_shrugging:

Well, it can depend.

In the case of files like this you can create your own file, with a higher priority by using a higher number, ex:

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-my-touchpad-settings.conf

I guess there’s always the i3 discussions and the fabulous Manjaro forum for more general questions. Thanks to all who replied.
