i consider myself somewhat of an arch newbie, so i really don’t know what’s causing it, i assumed it was grub, so i tried to install it from different usb, but it still didn’t work, (i even tried installing refind but it wasn’t the solution), so i’m rn booted a manjaro usb that i use as a “backup”, i “arch-chrooted” in from to “malfunctionning disk”, i don’t know if my words are comprehensible, sorry english in not my first language, what shall i do now?
Welcome to the forum! Please see the guidelines on asking for help.
It appears you never set a root password, which is why you cannot login at the screen (this is OK, you can still chroot). As the screen says, you need to provide us with your system’s information. In your chroot environment, run:
journalctl -xb
And provide us the output.
And, run:
inxi -Fazy
And post the output.
We can work with this information to try and troubleshoot your issue.
To clarify, you end up here when you try booting ever since you updated? When did you run this update?
ah yes thank you, also i’m sorry my bad, i should’ve given you more context, anyways enough winning, here’s what i got:

now that i think about it, it maybe is related to bad vulkan driver installation, as i ran into another problem when i tried to install it, as i ran in this problem similarly when i try to sudo pacman -S
any package it just gives me: Error connecting: Could not connect: No such file or directory error: command failed to execute correctly
(idk if it’s related tho)
also here’s when i mkinitcpio -p linux66
==> Building image from preset: /etc/mkinitcpio.d/linux66.preset: 'default'
==> Using default configuration file: '/etc/mkinitcpio.conf'
-> -k /boot/vmlinuz-6.6-x86_64 -g /boot/initramfs-6.6-x86_64.img

==> ERROR: '/lib/modules/6.6.32-1-MANJARO' is not a valid kernel module directory
and to clarify
earlier this morning, or maybe late yesterday night if you’re from the north amarican time zone
hope i could help clerify some parts and also a hundred thanks for your will to help
I asked when you updated because some users are having issues booting due to an update of systemd.
In the chroot environment, try editing /etc/default/grub
. You will see a line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=""
At the end of that line within the quotations, try adding:
SYSTEMD_CGROUP_ENABLE_LEGACY_FORCE=1 systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy=0
Then run:
sudo grub-install && sudo update-grub
Then reboot and see if it works.
sooo, i will try to make my responses a bit shorter, soo, i added that quote at the end of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=“”, and i did run sudo grub-install, however it just prompted me this error message
sudo grub-install
Installing for x86_64-efi platform.
grub-install: error: cannot find EFI directory.
Are you running manjaro-chroot
? If not, try that.
i wasn’t, but even with it’s the same error
Try running just sudo update-grub
.
prompts me:

Okay, I did my best to help from what I know, but I am not exactly sure what should be done next. From what it looks like, it doesn’t seem to be a major issue but I don’t want to give any bad advice . I think you should wait for someone more experienced to answer. You can look around in the forum and other sites in the meantime.
thanks still for everything, hope i wasn’t too much of a nuisance, have a great day dear stranger
Not at all!
