I need help following instructions from ProtonDB

I am trying to follow these instructions from ProtonDB so that I can play [Prototype]. I was able to get it working on another OS but here it is giving me trouble. I installed winetricks from 'add/remove software and protontricks with pipx however when I input the command shown on ProtonDB into my terminal I get this.

protontricks 10150 winxp  ✔
protontricks (ERROR): Active Proton installation could not be found automatically.
Proton installation could not be found!

How do I fix this issue?

Did you run the game at least once in Steam to create the Proton prefix for this game?
Is Proton installed in Steam?

Hi @SYFLDN,

What @omano said, and

is EOL (End Of Life). You should switch to another one. I recommend 5.10 or 5.15 as they are the latest LTS versions. To do so, from the terminal run:

mhwd-kernel --install linux510

to install version 5.10, or

mhwd-kernel --install linux515

to install version 5.15.

And reboot.

Remember to remove the old kernel when you have rebooted into a newer one:

mhwd-kernel --remove linux513

Thank you for pointing that out @omano I did that and I was able to successfully do the thing in terminal, however it is still crashing when I try to play and it has no audio.

Quickly going through the ProtonDB for the game, recent comments suggest to add parameters to the game Launch Options in Steam (right click game, Properties)

PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”xaudio2_3=b” PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%

You can reset the game prefix by deleting it to reset the previous changes you tried, delete the folder with the game Steam AppID of this game (10150 apparently) in ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/
