something is seriously wrong with llvm-libs
19.x update, i’m not sure whether i’ve a partial update (looks like not from what i’ve seen). but fellow unstable branch user beware. i’ve had everything from browsers to DE show stoppers. do not update unti further notice.
I received update to llvm 19.1.6-3, lib32-llvm-libs 1:19.1.6-1 and llvm-libs 19.1.6-3 on 2025-01-09 and did not notice any problems. It is possible that the problem is really in a partial update.
Updated and experience no issues, checked for up-to-date mirrors first.
llvm 19.1.6-3
llvm-libs 19.1.6-3
lib32-llvm-libs 1:19.1.6-1
lib32-llvm 1:19.1.6-1
Unrelated: This update seems to have fixed a browser issue I’ve had with Firefox video performance but was unable to get to the bottom off.
Maybe go again with:
sudo pacman-mirrors --continent && sudo pacman -Syu
Hmm - this morning, updated my system - no issues.
All browsers normal (chromium, edge, firefox, vivaldi)
No desktop issues (plasma)
Dev tools normal (java based)
Dev tools normal (nodejs based)
$ pamac search llvm --no-aur | grep 'Installed'
lib32-llvm-libs 1:19.1.6-1 [Installed] multilib
llvm-libs 19.1.6-3 [Installed] extra
llvm 19.1.6-3 [Installed] extra
truly sorry for the false flag people, it is a partial upgrade indeed. i properly synced the repos, and everything is as it should be, no issues.
i’ve withheld updates to my mesa stack due to mesa 24.3.x having VA-API issues with my ancient integrated intel-graphics. apparently what got things broken was mesa 24.2.7 explicitly depending upon llvm-libs 18.x, which was broken with the recent llvm upgrade.
so for the time being i’ve also installed llvm18-libs
till I get this issue sorted. i need advice from y’all on how/where to report this VAAPI issue i’ve been experiencing since mesa 24.3.x.
i think i should start with a fresh thread on this issue.
