I have audio and video problems

Hi, I installed the godot game engine recently (from manjaro’s repos). I think some dependancy of it messed with my audio (I’m clueless to how this all works, it said something about alsa and pipewire). I have been experiencing two seamingly distinct issues :

• Video never plays in any browser (event when I clear cache, uninstall extensions, run in throubleshooting mode, disable hardware acceleration…), it shows 0.5sec of video without audio then freezes the video, when I skip ahead in the video (or reload page, open another one, …) it does the same again.

• I’m listening to music on my headphones, I unplug then, the sound comes out of my speakers, I mute the speakers. When I plug the headphones back in they got muted for some reason, same the other way around (heaphones to speaker and unmuting). I used to be able to mute one or the other and that would be remembered (so for example, if I accidentaly unplug my headphones, I don’t wake up my neighboors at night).

Do you know what this might be ?
Note : if you need additional info (wich wouldn’t be surprising), please tell me how to get that information.

Solved, by sheer luck and toying with everything, I had somehow selected in a menu my headphones as stereo analog output when I should have selecte them as stéréo analog duplex. It solved both issues. This is not a good ux and I still don’t know why the distro lets me do that without a warning, it breaks everything and finding it took me 3h.

So … I guess information like the Desktop Environment would have been pertinent, according to yourself.

And … lots of people love Plasma, many feel that way about Gnome, some hold these opposing beliefs while some hold the same feeling for both, and some only like tiling window managers … its all subjective … and you have all the freedom to choose and configure as you like …

… but … oh …

I still don’t know why the distro lets me do that without a warning

I am sometimes reminded of something I saw in the past …
Someone had written a short paragraph or so musing about their ability to do just about anything in life. They could drink bleach or walk right off a cliff with nothing to stop them and no ‘are you sure?’ dialog … and just sort of pondering how ‘wild’ it was that reality works like that.
