I have a problem with a non-working touchpad on a fresh Manjaro XFCE system

My touchpad doesn’t work, I know it’s the Synaptic driver but despite enabling it in the options, the touch panel doesn’t work in my Manjaro XFCE - please help, I don’t know how to fix it. The system was freshly installed and updated on Acer Aspire E15 E5-575G-39AX.

Test
Go in to BIOS and set Touchpad from advanced to basic

It worked! @weingeist Thank you so much for your help. I went through so much trouble with the drivers and the solution was so simple and not obvious to me.
