I can't dual-boot in windows 10 after installing Manjaro os

I was using windows 10 for so many years now and i started taking web development courses then came across this manjaro os as the review say it is good for developer and it is user friendly. it all true but after install it i can’t boot into windows 10 anymore any help?

Hello @mr_D.M

Possible that you installed with mixed BIOS/UEFI and MSDOS/GPT partition table?

Please open a terminal and type:

sudo parted -l

and post the output here.

Also an issue could be grub:

grep "GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER" /etc/default/grub

Is the OS-Prober disabled?

how to check if it is disabled I’m new here

Type this into the terminal:

If it is says “true”, then it is disabled, if it says “false”, then it is enabled.

However… i guess the issue is a mixed system.

Windows was installed in BIOS mode, since the efi partition (nb 1) is not flagged as boot. So, if Manjaro is installed in UEFI mode, then it will never find Windows, which boots in BIOS mode. I would recommend, since you have an UEFI, to install Windows and Manajro in UEFI mode and recreate the partition table to GPT (it will wipe the whole disk), not MS-DOS, which is recommend for UEFI.

However, to keep windows how it is, you will have to disable the UEFI and boot the Manjaro Install Disk in legacy BIOS mode and install again. Then grub will find Windows.

okay let me try that but how to make manjaro image on manjaro

That is really easy… the recommend way is ventoy. Just install it:

pamac install ventoy

and install ventoy on the flash drive:

sudo ventoy -i /dev/sdc

This will wipe the whole usb disk (KEEP SURE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT ONE) and create a hidden boot partition and visible one. On the partition called ventoy, you just have to copy the ISO file, which you have downloaded and that’s it. Then boot from this flash drive. You can put as much ISOs on it as you like.

As i see, /dev/sdc should be you flash drive:

But better check again with:

sudo parted -l
