HP Envy Laptop 16t-h1000 - No output from internal laptop speaker

I’ve been using Manjaro Gnome on my laptop for a few months and haven’t been able to get my laptop speakers working. It’s never really been an issue until now- I need to use my speakers for a school project. The mute mic and speaker LEDs don’t work either- although the mute speaker key works just fine.

I’ve gone through forum posts already and checked the arch linux wiki- I’ve tried installing various sof packages, adjusting levels in alsamixer, and tried swapping to dedicated graphics figuring that the internal speakers may be wired to the discrete gpu. Nothing particularly seems to work

A patch for the Cirrus CS35L41 amplifiers for the built-in speakers was created yesterday but has not yet been signed off for inclusion in a kernel release:

[v2,4/4] ALSA: hda/realtek: Add quirks for various HP ENVY models
sbinding@opensource.cirrus.com
Jan. 26, 2024, 4:40 p.m. UTC

These models use 2 or 4 CS35L41 amps with HDA using I2C or SPI.
Some models have _DSD support inside cs35l41_hda_property.c.

+ SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x103c, 0x8be5, "HP Envy 16", ALC287_FIXUP_CS35L41_I2C_2),

Kernel v6.5 has been marked End Of Life and will not be updated
I suggest install Long Term Support kernel v6.6 that should be updated to include ALSA patch in the future
