Have ordered CPU/Motherboard to switch from Intel platform to AMD one (Ryzen 7). What is an appropriate moment to uninstal intel-ucode and isntall amd-ucode?
I don’t see any conflicts in the packages’ descriptions, so is it safe to install both? Or is some sequence of (un)installation/hardware-replacement is needed?
Right before switching the CPU would be the best time.
Make sure to run sudo update grub after installing amd-ucode and uninstalling intel-ucode.
AFAIK there is no risk to have both (or none) installed. Microcode will only apply to the relevant brand available.
