How to set a permanent display resolution in ARM XCFE for HDMI

I have problems with monitors. I have xcfe running on a Tv box connected to an HDMI Tv without issues. Problem arises when I have to change Tv and connect to another one, which is 2K and lacks 4K support. Despite XCFE display is at 1024x768 and persistent after reboot, this is not the case when changing monitor and boots at 4k resolution getting black screen.

All options in display settings have been tried. I don’t get profiles listed but can create one.

Suggestions are welcome! Thanks

I think you may want to have a look here:

I don’t want multiple displays, just to change from one to another.

I don’t have xrandr and is not a package in ARM-Manjaro-XCFE.

Thanks anyway

extra/xorg-xrandr 1.5.1-2 (xorg-apps xorg) [installed]
Primitive command line interface to RandR extension

community/autorandr 1.11-1
Auto-detect connected display hardware and load appropiate X11 setup using
    xrandr

Monitor.cfg in X11 does not work or gives LDM errors.

Thanks Darksky, autorandr gives me xrandr in terminal.

I have been able to get my second display work with Manjaro. In order to help other users here it’s what I made.

  • Enable autologin. You can not see booting process but system gets to desktop.
  • Set display to a native resolution of 1280x720p. From there you can set another resolution, but display refuses to do the first session in another usable resolution.

I was trying with 1024x768 because thought that was standard enough but that’s not true. The standard for TV is 720p.
