In Unity layout, the buttons are positioned between the language and network indicators. Is it possible to move them to the right (or left) edge of the bar?
No, I don’t think it is. But check settings for the unite extension.

Extension settings -> Appearance -> Top bar window buttons position -> Last. Thank you.

Wow thank you for this conversation, I now have Unite extension providing me with windows buttons on my Groovy install. Gnome is finally usable for me lol.
