I was using my Onboard 2.5Gb LAN adapter for my system, but lately I started experiencing often disconnects, maybe 2-3 per day. I noticed, that it was happening mostly when I have a VM running, that binds its virtual adapter to the physical via “macvtap”. I need to access network drives, that is why.
I wanted to pass-through a LAN adapter, but unfortunately, my motherboard’s IOMMU groups do not help.
For testing purposes I added a PCIe LAN adapter (Intel Dual Port), and I set the macvtap bind to this one, and no disconnects since.
However, I noticed that other applications, using this adapter too, and not sure when or why.
So my question are:
Is there a way to pass-through either adapter, based on the IOMMU groups below? (I do have ACS patch installed) ?
If the above is not possible, is there a way to forbid other applications of using this adapter?
