How to install NVIDIA driver 495.44?

Hi All,

I checked the old posts about this topic, and it’s said the 495.44 was in testing branch in 2021
where is the nvidia 495 driver

But after checking branch about nvidia driver, there is no 495 anymore…
https://packages.manjaro.org/?query=nvidia

Is it safe by install it according arch wiki ?

Thanks

Current nvidia is 550.
Legacy versions of 390 and 470 are also available.

mhwd -la

There may be other options, such as from the AUR, but they will be definitively unsupported.

And there will be none. There is 470xx and 390xx as legacy option and but the current driver version is 550xx. That is how nvidia wish it: Unix Drivers | NVIDIA (Note: Don’t try to install nvidia drivers directly from their site unless you know what you are doing)

Yes, so far the 470 was installed in my system for a while, but I would like to enable wayland for KDE.
Wayland KDE

Per this article, I need to upgrade to 495 version, or 550.
But, It sounds it can not be done right now. :sleepy:

What do you mean?
550 is available.
Is your card not supported?

what card must be supported ? post the output of

inxi -v8zy

that we can have some informations to help you.

My card is GTX660, from nvidia website, it was not supported by 550… :sleepy:

as @cscs pointed, the 470 is the legacy driver for older cards and i doubt that updating to 495 will improve anything to your card. you could do it manually but is it worth ? i expect you’ll run in trouble with every new manjaro-update that will come up, ending in a black screen.
you can download this 495 driver from nvidia, install it manually by running the setup-file but keep in mind that you’ll have to renew this every time manjaro updates from tty-console.
it’s just my personal opinion but if you need more performance think about upgrading the card. even used cards like an amd rx580/550 will deliver more vram and power and they are better supported than the nvidia-crap. less headache and more joy.
once you’ll check the internet or even this forum-search look at the (felt) fantastrillions topics about the problems with nvidia.
