[How to] delete old home folder after migrated it to new partition

Hi I’m new to Linux and Manjaro. Recently, I move my home folder to a new partition and mounted my new partition to /home. But, I forgot to delete the old home folder thus the data is still in the root partition. Is there any way I can delete it? Do let me know if any info is needed

Hi and welcome to the forum :+1:

To do that you need to:

  1. Boot from a Live image (USB/DVD)
  2. Mount that root partition at /mnt
  3. You will now be able to remove the contents of /mnt/home
Keep in mind that you should not remove /mnt/home itself, because it is needed as mount point in your normal setup…
  4. Execute sync and reboot into your normal OS.
