How to configure KDE taskbar?

I have inadvertently altered a setting on my taskbar and I cannot find how to return it to its former state

The left hand side of my taskbar now looks like this

I want all of the icons moved to the right and the “Window list” replacing with an icon for each open application

Can anyone help?

Open Settings → Colors & Themes → Select one of the defaults → tick both boxes and click Apply

Log out of Plasma, then log in on a TTY. Restore the last backup of ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc from before when you made the changes. Now log back in and your taskbar will be back as it was.

You need to log out to do this, otherwise the running session will save itself in that file when you next log out, so your restoration won’t work.

Right-click the panel — note that it’s a panel, not a taskbar; the taskbar is what is actually missing on your panel — and select “Enter Edit Mode”.

Right-click the Window List and select “Show Alternatives”. Select the “Icons-Only Task Manager”.

As for the icon placement, you’ll have to drag them around while you’re in Edit Mode.

To add … you can either add a spacer or similar between the task manager and your system tray OR configure the icons-only-task-manager to enable “Fill free space” (to push the system tray to the right hand side).
