How to check up which application is inducing kde-desktop-portal to install?

Dear friends, I have installed some program from ADD new programs and i wasn´t aware it might induce process that will want to install. xdg-portal-desktop-kde. I usually trying to be aware of what I am installing, so I search in the list of dependencies, but I do not know much about the system yet, but since I am struggeling that the llibvirt manachine manager does not want to grab my keyborad and mouse to be able to install windows, that i need for a specific Win7 app from company, I am trying to install for last 2 weeks a virtualization. It was working fine on xfce, but since I reinstall computer after crash of booting 2 weeks ago, aI am unable to process. It is a bit different issue though, but now on top I have reallized this thing is starting up. I think my virtualization is not working because I decided to use the 6.11linux kernet, called experimental, and maybe it does not have fullsupport for host-modules…But i do not know yet how to swich back from this kernel too.

I definitelly donot want to install more environments than what I essentially need. I guess there must be an article on how to figure out what is the program installed that is inducing to load a whole new environment or how to the system clean , but I am not lucky to find it. But i do not know yet how to swich back from this kernel too.

command line (terminal):
mhwd-kernel --help
gives you the information how to use this tool

graphical way:
Settings → Manjaro Settings Manager → Kernel

• install one in addition to the one you now have
• reboot, choose this one on the boot loader screen

then you can go back to the same place and remove the kernel you don’t want anymore
You can have two or more kernels installed …

I get a message about xdg-portal-desktop-kde:

What that message says is not an error and not a problem - it is simply informational.

Of course only you know what you wanted to do - what prompted this.

What was installed recently?
That info is in /var/log/pacman.log

You can scroll through it to see/learn about it’s structure, what is in it:
less /var/log/pacman.log

You can filter it like this, for example:
grep installed /var/log/pacman.log

Then you’ll have the name of the program you added and can remove …

The Kernel I manage to put back, but the issue with kde-desktop is still on. I have removed some orphan files from older version of apps, but I still getting into same situation. I am afraid I don’t to know how to read the log files to be able to detect what to do so that I find the root case. Here are some info, that might help if somebody wish to have a look into it. May it be becasue I have installed some gnome based extention into Dolphin, or maybe it was for GIMP, one of the extention packages, that I wanted to try out??

everything with the pattern pacman -S... is what you have installed - and when.

You have apparently installed every virtualization solution in existence
gnome-boxes (this really should work out of the box)
But this is more tailored to the Gnome environment and will pull in a lot of extra stuff when your Desktop is KDE/Plasma.
virt-manager
virtualbox

I’d remove all but one - and make sure they are correctly configured.
I use virt-manager - but virtualbox has also worked flawlessly for me.
Some need modules loaded before they can work.
A user needs to be added to a group:

Add yourself to the libvirt user group.

I have no idea what your problem might be.

The issue is that the windows 7 installation I cannot continue since the first window screen appears, becasuse I keyboard and mouse are not reacting at all. I have read a lot of articles, speaking mostly the sam … install some more host plugins, I went over config file for virtual Machine manager (that I was focusing on, as seemed to be the most detailed for me), but tried some other virtualizations before. last time I did manage to make it work on myprevius instal, after Oracle virtual manchine did the same, and libvirt did the same… but for some reasons, it is not happening now. Maybe I shall make a new ticket apar for this issue, as I am getting desperate with it now.

This is very unclear to me.
pacman -Sc only operates on the cache - it doesn’t install or deinstall anything
pacman -Syu updates the system - it doesn’t usually not install something new, it only operates on what is already installed

Hi Thanks for your efforts explaining. I understand that my expression is not very clear.

What that message says is not an error and not a problem - it is simply informational.

I think It is clear that message is telling only about handling the situation. But I am sure that I do not have kde-desktop-portal installed for now, and it will be new installation with other 2GB of files, that I am unable to track where they are coming from, as they are not simple updated apps, but a whole new environment in my humble opinion. so I believe it has to be way how to stop it. or remove the app that is trigering it, as I have been having in the past this issue, that I was having 3 new environments installed and the system was behaving weirdly. So yes in that sense it does operateon what is installed, and I maybe have installed some apps that are maybe of python or I do not know what might be the source like gimp plugin or Pidgim plugins that are made for different environment, and I am not aware of it as they are not working in my KDE and probably will, not be working, asn so would be better to remove them, but I wqould need to find what it is.

I regarding the virtualization. I am trying to install win7, and tried to setup as much as I could have learned, and surely I would rather learn more, if I have a bit more time, though I have 2 other linux computers, not working at all and wish to spend time on getting them operational before I am out of possibilities , so I am just wanting any virtualization that will work. the issue is the same anywhere with all the vitrualizations I did for now, that when the process of install stats from virtual CD, the new virtual machine does not grab neither mouse nor keyboard. I tireed several differend configuration, and several different VirtIO img to add together with windos install image, and also the addons for the kernel for virtual machine manager or addons for libvirt and the results are the same… not sure how to describe an issue like this… Maybe it is that the profile of user is already corrupted, though I just instaled the whole machine freshly after crash and loosing data.
Any advice would be worth.
