How to adjust the icon size in the tray hidden area in KDE?

My icons in the hidden area of the tray have been so small since some update a good long while ago, i just never got around to looking into it.

My panel icons and all other icons are fine, its just such a mess in the hidden area.

That’s weird, it seems fine here:

(by clicking “Show Hidden Icons”).

And my icons are set to small:

Is this a HiDPI (high resolution) display? I have 1366x768 on this laptop’s built-in display.

Its 4K , nothing to special, iv tried different icon sets and plasma styles in the settings, & reboot but all look that same.

Its got to be some file setting i need to alter in my home folder somewhere as this is the 3rd system that i have installed Manjaro clean KDE on, imported my home folder and they always look the same.

That’s also a very likely culprit — have you tried creating a fresh user account to test for this?

Na, I didn’t want the aggro, If it is the problem then I still have to either figure out exactly which setting file is at fault or migrate over to a new user account without just copying my entire home folder meaning having to rebuild everything which is a real PITA.

I would rather just figure out if anyone knows which conf file needs changing.

It’s just a temporary thing. What you could do, is copy .dotfiles one by one from your main account to the “test” one, to see which one causes the issue.

hmm, 100’s just in .config

i just need someone who knows which config folder/file/s control that specific widget.

This is the intent of my post really.

In that case, there’s the “divide and conquer” approach: copy half across. if it isn’t in that half, undo that and copy half the rest, and so on. This will save a lot of time and effort.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. It would have been my last port of call, but I have kept multiple backups of my home because I’m really lazy :stuck_out_tongue:

I shall see if anyone can point in the right direction, if not then no worries. It’s been that way since plasma 6 update, maybe even before.

Cheers.

The Plasma 6 update requires you to remove old cache and configs or else … things like this.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/KDE#Configuration_related

I dont even think that was quite extensive enough but I dont recall what extra things to include.

In this case - I am almost sure it is related to a previously available options for setting icon sizes independently … size for toolbar, size for menus, etc. This option does not exist any more … but maybe you set it at some earlier point?

In addition to the message by @cscs was the upgrade to Plasma6 done whilst logged out of your Desktop Environment, i.e. in a TTY?

Maybe it’s an icon theme incompatibility?

I really dont think so, but possible

I did.

As i say, iv tried other icon packs/themes.

I’m not likely to remove all my configs and reset them all up again, that would take ages and I doubt I could even remember half of what I have done to get it how I like it through the past.

No matter, if no one knows which files to look into i shall just leave it. Other things to do.
