How many Manjaro Cinnamon users are there?

Just curious how many Cinnamon users on the forums or if Manjaro has any rough figures on how many Cinnamon users they have.

Telemetry has always been a hot topic.

To my knowledge Manjaro has no telemetry which could indicate how many users there may be of any given desktop.

I know the opensource statistics tool - matomo - is used on the forum and the website and those statistics is only used internally.

There is likely some statistics provided by CDN77 on how many times any given ISO is downloaded - but that does not indicate the number of users of e.g. Cnnamon.

The order of popularity - my personal guess

  1. Plasma
  2. Xfce
  3. Gnome

The guess is backed by the numbers from Manjaro Linux - Browse Files at SourceForge.net

I’m inclined to agree that Plasma would currently be the most popular choice, but I’m not so sure on the #2 and #3 positions. It would seem — at least to me — that GNOME usage has recently been on the rise again.

It’ll either way be close, for all three of them, and it could shift at any point in time. When Manjaro started off as a new distribution, Xfce was the only option — it is to date still what @philm himself uses and prefers. Then Plasma was added, but then it was dropped again at some later point, and then it was brought back. I’m not sure when GNOME joined the ranks.

Either way, I think @philm probably has fairly good statistics on the exact popularity of either Manjaro flavor, but based upon the number of downloads. As you say, Manjaro itself doesn’t include any telemetry. We also don’t have any real stats on the popularity of the various spins.

As for Cinnamon, I do have the impression that there are quite a few Cinnamon users here at the forum — especially among fresh Windows expats — but I can’t say how many, and it’ll either way be a lower number than for either of the official editions.

Coincidence. I was just thinking of getting your opinion on the cinnamon version.

I understand that it’s a community edition, but I’m actually worried about the day when Cinnamon will be completely dropped. (This is where I laugh a little.)

My manjaro is an elementary school student, and I’ve been using it as my main tool for the past 5 years. I almost gave up on repairing it many times, but I am able to use it without reinstalling.

Other OSs are also included. We also use VM, but basically we operate with RAW SSD.
Sometimes grub/multiboot breaks. Fix without chroot.

This fig is grub on NVMe0 around March.

Create a custom grub script to distinguish between OS/Filesystem using LABEL. I’m using a surprisingly large grub font .4K self-made theme.

That’s why I’m thinking of immigrating to PLASMA6.
That being said,
Although it may be more likely that you will just choose Cinnamon.
After all, I’ve been using Cinnamon since LinuxMint was first released, so I’m completely used to it and it’s enclosed (enclosure).
There are a lot of custom scripts for nemo.

My predicted power distribution is
KDE > GNOME >XFCE
