How do I stop fan from ramping up to 100% when starting?

I have newly installed Manjaro gnome but when it starts the fan freaks out at 100% for 5 seconds. It’s annoying how to stop that?

it’s a normal behaviour that the fans ramp up at boot, that’s part of the system check to ensure they are working.

But sometimes it works and sometimes not. In other operating system I was having this issue but it came after a system update. I hadn’t this issues before when my system was fresh.

My fan is very loud it maxed at 3000 rpm. the whole house can hear it at night and it freaks everyone

may you open a terminal and post the output of ‘systemctl status tlp’. if the energy-saving service is not active you could test if there is a change if activated.

it says it’s not found

You can try switching to a LTS Kernel. Also see this:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fan_speed_control

Switching kernel did indeed works. I didn’t noticed any issue with 5.10 (I was have 5.15)

I have heard a lot of issues with AMD with the latest kernel but I’m not sure

title edited as this is/was a question/call for support and not a tutorial

Hi,
I have had a similar issue with my graphic AMD card even it is normal that when you just boot your fans ran up at boot but after nothing. Saturday (8 days) I 've take the problem and resolve it using amdfan.
And since they are working nicely at around 1200 rpm and the temperature is stil at 35 C° + ou less 1 C°.
