How can I turn my laptop screen blank (as if it is turn off) when I lower screen brightness to 0?

After recent update I can’t turn screen blank when I lower brightness 0, now it’s looking like as if it is dim. It used to make sense to me 0 means nothing , and you can’t see anything . I know I can change setting in power management to turn off screen after sometime. But is it still possible to achieve it ?

If turning the screen brightness down to zero made the screen go completely blank, then how would you find the correct icon or menu item to turn the brightness back up again?

I imagine that it does not go completely blank so that users can continue to interact with their desktop.

I don’t have Plasma on a laptop. But that worked before, for everyone?

For brightness level 0, just about anything else does not do the added step of putting your display into power save mode.

Seems likely this could be an overlooked bug.

I have screen brightness key on F11 and F12 , where F11 decrease and F12 increase brightness. I think some laptops have hotkeys to adjust brightness.

Yes, this is intentional, to prevent people from accidentally making the contents of their screen invisible.

To turn off your screen (and in a way that will save more battery than just turning down brightness), you can use a keyboard shortcut which you can set up in system settings.
