How can I improve boot speed?

I managed to reduce the startup time by 2 seconds. It’s not a huge improvement but eh, I learned something new, thanks!

Startup finished in 10.876s (firmware) + 1.219s (loader) + 4.943s (kernel) + 2.589s (userspace) = 19.629s
graphical.target reached after 2.575s in userspace.

:star_struck:

Your BIOS takes more time than before, not normal if it was 7 seconds to initialize before, why is it 10 now? You gained 5 seconds from the tip I told you with GRUB (loader), but BIOS takes more time so the gain is not as much visible.

I’ve just read through the entire thread, and I’m wonder why, instead of focusing so much effort on reducing boot time, you don’t simply Hibernate between Sessions, instead of shutting down, basically what you were used to (albeit unknowingly) when using Windows.

My boot time including establishing my Desktop can take up to a full minute… that because I have several applications opening and being assigned to specific workspaces, as a consequence I rarely perform a shut down, instead I Hibernate.

When I do shut down (reboot actually), it’s usually because the recent system update required it, so once or twice a Month. So I’m not concerned about boot time.
