That’s why I would argue against version numbers. It gives the impression there are multiple versions rather than one rolling release.
Nothing is going to fix people not understanding rolling release, besides them learning what rolling release is.
I might argue for dated releases archived (for posterity, testing) … but methinks there are reasons some may desire the fanfare and exposition of ‘releases’ such as using it to bolster recognition of new tools or new software releases. It effectively has a higher ‘shiny’ factor - for better or worse.
I understand the marketing point of view, sadly it’s apparently necessary to draw in new users.
