How can i disable G-Sync on my Nvidia GPU?

I have a Dell 144Hz G-Sync Monitor and i want to disable this feature, but xserver only gives me this option for OpenGL.

Is there a file, to disable G-Sync in Direct3D (or in general) games?

Use /etc/environment an copy this line
__GL_GSYNC_ALLOWED=0

or

__GL_GSYNC_ALLOWED=0 %command% @ commandline

Work it ?

I think GL is for OpenGL and as i meantioned already, this option is in XServer GUI and i had it disabled already.

In Windows i can disable G-Sync right after boot… this is what i want in Linux.
But when there is a other solution or work around… i would give it a try. :frowning:

Direct3D? In Linux? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Two things I can think of;
1- If your monitor provides such option you can just disable the G-Sync in the settings/On-Screen-Overlay of your monitor so it just won’t work. If you have problems with G-Sync feature being enabled on your system-side pass this one.
2- While typing this second answer I wanted to test it on my machine and when I typed this to check: nvidia-settings -q AllowGSYNC it says “AllowGSYNC” is deprecated and they changed it to “AllowVRR” but this probably isn’t the one you are looking for. So, sorry I couldn’t find how to disable it in the system-side.

Have you tried anything like this or this?

My Monitor Overlay don’t let me disable G-Sync.

Your Reddit link is nice… i just typed in the Terminal:
nvidia-settings -a currentmetamode="2560x1440_144 { AllowGSYNC=Off }"

And my G-Sync showed Off in Monitor Overlay.

But how can i get this to work in a Script, together with my old nvidia setttings script?That i use to load my colour profile on autostart.

Im using actually a txt file in .config/autostart-scripts/:

#!/bin/bash
nvidia-settings -l

How can i combine this, together with my new command?

nvidia-settings -a currentmetamode="2560x1440_144 { AllowGSYNC=Off }"

I’m not sure how to incorporate it in your script, because I don’t know anything about your script. Have you tried making a cronjob (cronie in Manjaro)? Using the time flag @reboot should ensure that the command runs whenever you reboot your machine. I’m guessing you already know about crontabs or you wouldn’t be able to run your own script at startup, so maybe describe in more detail what you’ve tried, and what you’re struggling with?

Im not a fan from additional Software that should get worked out with features that already integrated into Manjaro/KDE.

The Script issue is solved in another Thread that i created today.

Anyways your first (Reddit) link solved mainly my problem that i had with G-Sync, thank you alot. :slight_smile:
