Home on an extra partition or not?

I have my system on an SSD and my /home on an HDD. But now I’m toying with the idea of leaving /home on the SSD and only linking my data folders to it. Reason: The entire .config files would then also be on the fast SSD. Is the speed gain noticeable when launching programs if the .config(s) are no longer on the slower HDD? Is it worth the effort to make the switch?

That’s what I do; I’ve never run any benchmarks or done direct comparisons, but everything opens really really fast , way faster than when I used to use only HDDs. I’m very happy with the setup.
