"Home folder" keyboard shortcut now opens Atom editor

Hello, since I’ve updated my Atom editor to 1.61.0-beta0 now my keyboard shortcut for opening my home folder opens up that folder into the Atom editor. It also starts an Electron process that hogs up a lot of CPU & RAM and remains open even after Atom is closed.

Any ideas of what might be up with this?

Ty!

Electron based spps can be unpredicatable if there is bugs in the underlying electron

Possibly an editor issue - I suggest you check upstream for the state of the atom editor

But you think that atom could be hijacking my keyboard shortcuts somehow?

Also I don’t know why Atom got updated to a beta release

now my keyboard shortcut for opening my home folder opens up that folder into the Atom editor

Check for inode/directory in ~/.config/mimeapps.list, maybe Atom is before your default file manager in the list, which is why it opens folders.

It is possible - if atom has added itself as handler for inode/directory - in mimeapps.list.

You can have multiple handlers for the same thing - separated with ; - they are applied in order of appearance.

That was it! kinda, there is no inode/directory entry in my mimeapps.list but following that logic I’ve opened Cinnamon’s “Preferred Applications” settings and there it was Atom setup as my file manager.

Thanks for the help
