High CPU usage while playing 1080p60 videos and videocalls

Hello. I have a problem using KDE Manjaro, I’m new in this distro and I don’t know why is too high the CPU usage playing videos on Youtube, google meet.

My specs:

Thanks for your help!

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    [HowTo] Provide System Information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.

Welcome to the forum!

Sounds like you do not have hardware video acceleration setup in your browser.

Please see:

Thanks, I’ve added the needed information.

Some information is missing:

  • Which app do you use for playing video?

  • Did you enable hardware acceleration?

  • What is the output of mhwd -li

  • Check pacman -Q mesa amdvlk

You need to enable SWAP

  • Yeah! I’ve enabled it.

    and what is that?

See Swap - ArchWiki

There is normally no reason to use that (except in rare specific use cases) as the built-in amdgpu kernel driver is almost always superior and recommended.
