Hibernation blinks power light, then immediately Resumes

Hello! Fresh install of Manjaro KDE Plasma on a Thinkpad P1 Gen5, using Nvidia Quadro.

  • S0ix works flawlessly OOTB. Suspends for days and resumes perfectly.
  • Using swapfile at /swapfile (on a LUKS partition)
  • Added “resume” hook to mkinitcpio after encrypt
  • Standard Manjaro installer’s LUKS encrypted EXT4 as root

Rebooted and when clicking Hibernate, the machine/display powers off for 4 seconds, which blinks the power light quickly like 8 times, and then immediately resumes. I went back in and added the optional Kernel parameters (even though i was trying to use the systemd EFI variable):

  • Added resume and resume_offset according to ArchLinux hibernation instructions

That did not change anything.

Below is the captured (large) dmesg from the moment i click Hibernate, and then I truncate it just after it resumes.

Thank you. However, I did read and investigated the github issue and none of that applies to my reported issue. The v256 issue is around sleep and “Freezing user space processes failed after…” errors. Searching several boot messages, I have never logged such an error. So the reported issues do not apply.

Also as I reported, S0ix (suspend) works fine for my 6.10 kernel and nvidia proprietary drivers without any of those workarounds - mainly because of the newer 6.10.6 kernel. I was previously on 6.9.x and had some issues with suspend But 6.10.6 is fine for several days now.

My issue seems to be around a hook or config that is triggering Hibernation to wake up immediately: pure hibernation, not suspend or sleep as reported. Following the Arch instructions multiple times on multiple installs has not yielded to Hibernation working.

This is the same as S2Idle according to Power management/Suspend and hibernate - ArchWiki.

You are using Hibernation and if it is not the freeze user sessions that is causing this - I don’t know.

The flashing 8 times seems to be indicative of something - I am guessing the resumed stated cannot be applied fully - but without knowning what the flashes really mean that is a guess.
