Help with errors from "journalctl"

Hello people, I was wondering where to start to fix (if needed) these errors I am getting from doing

sudo journalctl -p 3 -xb

Honestly I am kind of lost about what some of those errors means, if they are important or not, and how should I handle them, can someone please give me a hint to clear my paranoia about them?

EDIT: Oh I’m sorry I forgot to put the System info, I copied it and didn’t pasted it here, my bad:

OS: Manjaro Linux x86_64
Host: Z370M DS3H
Kernel: 5.4.60-2-MANJARO
Shell: bash 5.0.18
Resolution: 1920x1080 @ 60.00Hz
DE: GNOME 3.36.5

BTW, after that I installed Lightdm (and obviously disabled GDM), so if anything is GDM related I think I can skip it since I am loving LightDM a lot more

Welcome to the forum!

You didn’t tell us what kernel you are experiencing these errors with. Please always provide the proper context so that people can properly help you.

Sorry! I put the info in the post now, copied it fron neofetch and forgot to paste it before sending it:

OS: Manjaro Linux x86_64
Host: Z370M DS3H

For a moment there, I thought you were going to tell me you ran kernel 5.8 or 5.9, but to my surprise, you’re on 5.4 LTS.

So it’s not a kernel bug ─ at least, not that I can see, and on my own machine, I am not getting any of that output you pasted. That leads me to suspect that it might be a processor bug, or possibly a BIOS or UEFI bug. Do you have a recent BIOS or UEFI?

In my opinion the ACPI and WMI errors are due to bogus firmware by your vendor.

Hi @Sogetsu,

the ACPI errors are in fact due to the vendor not obeying to the ACPI specifications.

The WMI error (Failed to parse WDG method): After a BIOS update these appear to me as well. They seem to be related to Windows Management Instrumentation, mostly I think relevant to hotkeys but not limited to.

I presume if the device functions within normal parameters, then I’d say you can safely ignore these.

(Note that I’m not on Manjaro but Ubuntu and of course different specs for the machine, kernel and base system, but my answer should still apply to your problem)

Hope that helps,
Stephan
